Welcome to KitchRecipes! This is Olivia here!
The reason I started this blog
I created this website because there were too many recipe blogs which seemed like they were written by someone who had never been in a kitchen before. These blogs are easy to spot in their description the sauce would “come together perfectly,” but in reality, it wouldn’t, or the chicken would need more cooking time or some step would be skipped without any notice. I was sure that there must be recipes which actually work in an everyday household with all its peculiarities recipes that can be easily prepared by a home cook with ordinary products from a regular grocery store and useful tips included in instructions.
I am not a professional chef, and I would like to admit it. I am a home cook who enjoys trying to understand the principles of recipes and being helpful to my readers, not impressing them.
The process of developing recipes
Each recipe that is placed on this website is tested first in my own kitchen. Not just once and put up on the website but several times until I manage to eliminate everything which is wrong in a recipe and make sure it works. I would rather not post a recipe and risk giving you a guess about what could be wrong with it.
While writing instructions, I always try to mention the things which are normally left unnoticed by other cooks. For example, what your batter should look like just before you add the last ingredient, what an already reduced sauce should look and smell like compared to the sauce which needs 5 minutes more of cooking, and what you should do if something doesn’t go the way it is described in the recipe. These are usually the moments when things go wrong in an actual kitchen, and these are the things I try to explain best in my instructions.
What you can find here
KitchRecipes covers various topics including weeknight dinners, recipes for baking, 30-minute fast food, recipes for a healthy dinner, and kid-friendly recipes for the evenings when every member of the family prefers having something else for dinner. The recipes that were inspired by restaurants and famous dishes they will be marked “copycat” or will include information about where I got the idea I try to recreate a dish in my kitchen.
My promise to you
I don’t want to convince you that each recipe is going to change your life. Some of them are just good recipes for an ordinary weeknight dinner and I will let you know about it honestly instead of trying to sell it to you. However, if a recipe includes some limitation it doesn’t reheat well, needs a special pan, or requires more efforts than it looks like I would rather be honest about it than leave it unnoticed by you.
