Ingredients
  

Bread Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk or milk + vinegar substitute
  • 1 large egg
Cinnamon Swirl
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Loaf pan
  • Wire rack
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare loaf pan.
  2. Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy.
  4. Add egg and buttermilk, mix well.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form batter.
  6. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. Layer batter and cinnamon sugar in loaf pan, swirling with a knife.
  8. Bake 45–55 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to wire rack.
