Ingredients
  

Beef Patties
  • 2 pounds ground beef 80/20 blend recommended
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Gravy
  • 8 ounces mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese or Swiss cheese

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire, salt, pepper, and parsley. Shape into 6–8 patties.
  2. Brown patties in a skillet, 2–3 minutes per side, then transfer to baking dish.
  3. In the same skillet, cook mushrooms in butter until tender, 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, stir 1–2 minutes, then whisk in broth until smooth. Simmer 5 minutes to thicken.
  5. Pour mushroom gravy over patties. Top with cheese.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes covered, then 10 minutes uncovered until cheese melts.
  7. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
