- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line or grease a 12-cup muffin pan.
- Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Whisk butter, sugars, eggs, vanilla, and milk together in a separate bowl.
- Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in diced apples.
- Divide batter evenly in muffin cups and top with cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Bake 18–22 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 5 minutes in pan, then transfer to wire rack.
Notes
For extra flavor, drizzle muffins with a maple glaze once cooled.
