Apple Layers
  • 4 apples thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp butter melted
Vanilla Custard
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Bake apple slices with sugar and cinnamon until tender.
  2. Bake gluten-free puff pastry rectangles until golden.
  3. Prepare vanilla custard by thickening milk, sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch.
  4. Cool all components completely.
  5. Layer pastry, custard, and apples. Repeat and finish with pastry.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
