Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.33 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold, cubed
  • 1 cup apples chopped, peeled
  • 0.33 cup heavy cream plus more for brushing
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Maple Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup pure
  • 1-2 tbsp milk adjust consistency
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in large bowl.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Fold in chopped apples.
  5. Whisk cream, egg, and vanilla; add to dry mixture until dough forms.
  6. Pat dough into 1-inch thick circle, cut into 8 wedges.
  7. Place wedges on baking sheet, brush with cream.
  8. Bake 18–20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth, drizzle over warm scones.

Notes

Best served warm. Store in airtight container for 2 days, or freeze unbaked wedges for later baking.
