Ingredients
  

Chicken Soup Ingredients
  • 1 whole chicken 3–4 lbs
  • 10 cups chicken broth
  • 4 carrots sliced
  • 3 celery stalks sliced
  • 1 onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 0.5 tsp turmeric optional
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups egg noodles optional
  • fresh parsley or dill for garnish

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Add chicken, broth, vegetables, garlic, herbs, and seasonings to a pot and simmer 1–1.5 hours.
  2. Remove chicken, shred, and return to pot.
  3. Add noodles or rice if using and cook until tender.
  4. Adjust seasoning and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

Soup thickens as it cools; add extra broth when reheating if needed.
