Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk.
  4. Stir in vanilla and pour batter into prepared pan.
  5. Bake until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Notes

Allow cake to cool completely before slicing for clean cuts.
