  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 head cabbage, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 15 oz diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese for topping
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet with olive oil. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add onion and garlic; cook until softened.
  4. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  5. Layer half of the cabbage, beef mixture, and rice in the baking dish. Repeat layers.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Remove foil, top with cheese, and bake an additional 10–15 minutes.
  8. Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley.
