Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter and sauté garlic for 1–2 minutes. Stir in cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Simmer 3–4 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Arrange half of the potato slices in the dish. Pour half of the cream mixture and sprinkle with half of the cheeses.
- Repeat with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
- Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake 25–30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
For extra crispiness, broil for 2–3 minutes after baking. Assemble ahead and refrigerate up to 24 hours before baking.
