Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar plus extra for rolling
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped almonds or pecans
  • 24 maraschino cherries drained and patted dry
  • pinch salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in vanilla.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, and chopped nuts until dough forms.
  4. Flatten dough, wrap around a maraschino cherry, and roll into a ball. Place on baking sheet.
  5. Bake 12–15 minutes until set but not browned.
  6. Roll cookies in powdered sugar while warm. Cool, then roll again for snowy effect.

Notes

Cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week. Roll again in powdered sugar before serving if needed.
