  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium apple peeled and finely diced
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch pan with parchment or grease.
  2. Whisk together melted butter and brown sugar, then mix in egg and vanilla.
  3. Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt; stir until combined.
  4. Fold in diced apple and nuts (if using).
  5. Spread into pan, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, and bake 28–32 minutes until golden.
  6. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
