Ingredients
  

Pastry
  • 2 sheets puff pastry thawed
  • 1 egg beaten for wash
  • 2 tbsp coarse sugar for sprinkling
Cookie Dough Filling
  • 0.5 cup butter softened
  • 0.33 cup brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup mini chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract, then gradually add flour and salt until a cookie dough consistency forms.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips, ensuring even distribution throughout the mixture.
  5. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a 12x10 inch rectangle.
  6. Spread half of the cookie dough mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border.
  7. Cut the pastry into 1-inch wide strips, then twist each strip 2-3 times.
  8. Place twisted strips on prepared baking sheets, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and flaky.
  10. Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in airtight container for up to 3 days. Can be frozen before baking and cooked from frozen, adding 2-3 extra minutes to baking time.
