Ingredients
  

Apple Filling
  • 6 apples peeled and sliced
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 0.5 cup old-fashioned oats optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking dish
  • Pastry cutter

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease baking dish.
  2. Mix apples with sugars, lemon juice, vanilla, spices, and flour.
  3. Transfer apples to baking dish.
  4. Combine topping ingredients and cut in butter.
  5. Sprinkle topping over apples.
  6. Bake 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  7. Cool 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, use a mix of sweet and tart apples.
