Ingredients
  

Main
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (85/15)
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 hamburger buns toasted

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  5. Spoon mixture onto toasted hamburger buns and serve warm.

Notes

For a spicy version, add hot sauce or diced jalapeños. Sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
