Ingredients
  

  • 4 chicken breasts boneless, skinless
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 0.5 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 0.5 cup Italian breadcrumbs optional
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil chopped, for garnish
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for browning, optional

Equipment

  • Crockpot/slow cooker
  • Skillet
  • Knife and cutting board

Method
 

  1. Season chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  2. Optional: Brown chicken in olive oil 1–2 minutes per side.
  3. Place chicken in crockpot and pour marinara sauce over top. Add garlic.
  4. Cook on low 4–5 hours or high 2–3 hours until chicken is tender.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella, Parmesan, and optional breadcrumbs on top.
  6. Cover and cook additional 10–15 minutes until cheese melts.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil and serve over pasta or zoodles.

Notes

For a crispier topping, broil cheese for 2–3 minutes before serving. Can be prepped in the morning and cooked while at work.
