Biscuit Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar optional
  • 0.5 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 0.75-1 cup cold buttermilk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut cold butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add buttermilk and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  5. Gently fold dough and shape into a rectangle.
  6. Cut biscuits and place on sheet.
  7. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden.

Notes

Keep butter very cold for flakiest biscuits.
