Ingredients

  • 6 cups pretzel twists
  • 12 oz orange candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • 6 oz black candy melts or dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil divided
  • Halloween sprinkles orange, black, purple
  • candy eyes
  • mini chocolate chips
  • orange sugar crystals
  • black sugar crystals
  • Halloween-themed candies optional
  • parchment paper for cooling

Equipment

  • Large baking sheets
  • Parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowls
  • Fork for dipping
  • Small bowls for decorations

Method

  1. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside for cooling the decorated pretzels.
  2. Separate your pretzel twists into two equal portions of 3 cups each for the different color coatings.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the orange candy melts with 1 tablespoon coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth.
  4. Working quickly, add the first batch of pretzels to the orange coating and toss gently with a fork until evenly coated.
  5. Using a fork, transfer coated pretzels to the prepared parchment paper, allowing excess coating to drip off.
  6. While the orange coating is still wet, immediately add your chosen decorations like candy eyes, orange sprinkles, or mini chocolate chips.
  7. In another microwave-safe bowl, melt the black candy melts with the remaining tablespoon of coconut oil using the same method.
  8. Repeat the coating process with the remaining pretzels and black chocolate, decorating immediately with black sprinkles, candy eyes, or other spooky additions.
  9. Allow all pretzels to cool and set completely at room temperature, approximately 15-20 minutes.
  10. For extra spookiness, drizzle contrasting colors over set pretzels using a fork or piping bag.
  11. Once completely set, transfer to serving bowls or package in treat bags for sharing.
  12. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week for maximum freshness and crunch.

Notes

The coconut oil helps create a smooth, glossy coating that sets perfectly. Work quickly when decorating as the chocolate coating sets fast. These treats are perfect for making ahead and store beautifully for up to a week.
