Ingredients
  

Apple Cake
  • 3 apples peeled, cored, sliced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8-inch cake pan.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Whisk sugar, butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine dry and wet ingredients gently.
  5. Fold in half of the apple slices.
  6. Pour batter into pan and arrange remaining apples on top.
  7. Sprinkle with brown sugar and bake 45–50 minutes.
  8. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Best served warm with ice cream or custard.
