- Butter one side of each bread slice and toast until golden.
- Layer half the bread, cheese, vegetables, and bacon in dish; repeat.
- Whisk eggs, milk, and seasonings, then pour over layers.
- Let rest 15 minutes, cover, and bake 25 minutes; uncover and bake 20 minutes more.
- Garnish with chives and serve warm.
