Sausage Pie Layers
  • 1 lb ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs large
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough 10 biscuits
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter for greasing

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cook the ground sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Slice biscuit dough into thin layers and layer the bottom of the baking dish.
  5. Spread half of the cooked sausage over the biscuit layer, then sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese.
  6. Repeat layers: remaining biscuit slices, remaining sausage, and top with remaining cheese.
  7. Pour the egg and milk mixture evenly over the layered pie.
  8. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

Add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor. Can be made ahead and baked the next morning.
