- Toast hoagie rolls until golden brown and set aside.
- Cook chopped onions in oil until golden, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add ground beef, season, and brown on both sides before chopping.
- Add cheese slices over beef, let melt, then mix together.
- Spread mayo and ketchup on rolls, layer with lettuce and tomato.
- Pile on beef mixture, wrap sandwich, and serve hot.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh off the skillet. For extra authenticity, wrap in foil before serving.
