Ingredients
  

Custard
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 4 egg yolks large
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 4 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafers

Method
 

  1. Whisk sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan, then add milk.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  3. Temper egg yolks and return them to the saucepan.
  4. Cook until smooth and glossy, then remove from heat.
  5. Stir in butter and vanilla extract.
  6. Layer wafers, bananas, and custard in a dish.
  7. Chill before serving for best texture.

Notes

Allow the pudding to chill at least 2 hours for best flavor and texture.
