  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 14 oz smoked sausage sliced into rounds
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups short pasta penne or rotini
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 0.5 tsp chili flakes adjust to taste
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • fresh parsley for garnish
  • grated cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese optional, for topping

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook sausage until browned.
  2. Add onion and sauté until softened, then stir in garlic.
  3. Add chicken broth, BBQ sauce, honey, and smoked paprika. Stir in pasta.
  4. Simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  5. Add sausage back to the skillet, stir in cream and chili flakes.
  6. Simmer 2–3 minutes until sauce is thick and glossy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper, garnish with parsley and cheese.
