Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • 2 eggs large
  • 0.75 cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp orange zest fresh
  • 0.5 cup orange juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat sugar, melted butter, eggs, milk, orange juice, zest, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Fold wet ingredients into dry until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Stir in chocolate chips.
  6. Spoon batter into liners, filling ¾ full. Top with chocolate chips and orange pieces if desired.
  7. Bake 18–22 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

For extra indulgence, drizzle muffins with melted chocolate or glaze with orange icing.
