Ingredients
  

Cupcakes
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Vanilla Buttercream
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line muffin pan with cupcake liners.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  3. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt separately.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients alternately with milk.
  5. Fill liners and bake 18–20 minutes.
  6. Make frosting and swirl onto cooled cupcakes.

Notes

For stronger vanilla flavor, use vanilla bean paste or scraped vanilla bean.
