A classic sandwich made with thinly sliced steak, sautéed onions, and melted cheese on a soft hoagie roll.

Ingredients
  

Cheesesteak
  • 1.5 lb ribeye steak thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 large yellow onion sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper optional, sliced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls

Equipment

  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Sharp knife
  • Spatula

Method
 

  1. Sauté onions (and peppers if using) until soft; set aside.
  2. Cook sliced steak in a hot skillet until just done.
  3. Combine steak with onions and top with cheese until melted.
  4. Serve steak mixture in hoagie rolls.

Notes

Best served immediately while hot and cheesy.
