Ingredients
  

Cracker Base
  • 40 pieces saltine crackers
Caramel Layer
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Arrange saltines in a single layer on the prepared sheet.
  3. Melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, boil 3 minutes.
  4. Add vanilla and pour caramel over crackers, spreading evenly.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes until bubbling.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips, let melt, then spread evenly.
  7. Top with sea salt, cool completely, refrigerate until firm.
  8. Break into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

Line your pan well—caramel can get sticky. Store airtight for best texture.
