Ingredients
  

Stuffing Base
  • 10 cups bread cubes dry or toasted
  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 stalks celery, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 whole eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp parsley
Optional Add-ins
  • 1 cup diced apples optional
  • 1 cup mushrooms optional

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls

Method
 

  1. Toast bread cubes if needed.
  2. Brown sausage and set aside.
  3. Cook onions, celery, and garlic.
  4. Combine bread, sausage, vegetables, and herbs.
  5. Add butter, broth, and beaten eggs; toss to coat.
  6. Spread into baking dish and bake at 350°F for 35–40 minutes.

Notes

Use day-old bread for best texture. Customize with apples or cranberries.
