Ingredients

  • 2 lb pork belly cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp dark soy sauce optional
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 2 green onions chopped for garnish
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for garnish

Equipment

  • Large skillet or wok
  • Mixing bowls
  • Tongs
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Cut pork belly into bite-sized pieces and pat dry.
  2. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear pork belly until golden and crisp on all sides, about 10–12 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauces, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and water.
  4. Pour glaze over pork belly and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer 10–12 minutes, stirring until sauce thickens.
  5. Caramelize until sticky and glossy. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Patting the pork dry before searing ensures crispness. Adjust honey to taste for more or less sweetness.
