Ingredients
  

Steak and Marinade
  • 1.5 lbs flank or sirloin steak
  • 0.5 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.5 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Whisk all marinade ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Place steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour marinade over it. Refrigerate 2–12 hours.
  3. Bring steak to room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking.
  4. Heat grill, skillet, or broiler. Cook steak 4–6 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  5. Rest steak for 10 minutes after cooking.
  6. Slice against the grain and serve.

Notes

Marinate longer for deeper flavor; reduce leftover marinade into a glaze for serving.
