Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage mild or spicy
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook sausage in a skillet until browned. Leave 2 tablespoons of fat in the pan.
  3. Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir. Slowly add milk, whisking until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cut biscuits into quarters. Layer half in the baking dish.
  5. Pour sausage gravy over biscuits.
  6. Whisk eggs with seasoning and pour over gravy. Add cheese on top if desired.
  7. Add remaining biscuits. Bake 35–40 minutes until golden.
  8. Cool slightly before serving. Garnish with parsley.

Make ahead for holidays or brunches. Great served with fruit or coffee.
